Fascinating biography on this elusive billionaire.

Yes, it comes with a 1 hour documentary DVD on the Prince. This is probably the first ever biography where they enclosed a DVD. I have never met the Prince nor seen him on TV, but the DVD gave me a good impression of him.

This book is an authorized biography of Prince Alwaleed. In America, he is not as famous as Warren Buffet, but he is quite well known in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia. Since this is an authorized version, the author, Riz Khan, is very careful not to say anything that is too negative or controversial about Alwaleed. We won't fault him for that since he wants to please the Prince.

What I enjoyed about this book is the numerous interviews made by Alwaleed. You get a good sense of how this man thinks and learn his philosophy about life and business. I also like reading about how the Prince lives and makes his business and investment decisions.

He is driven, precise, highly ambitious, demanding, fast-paced and extremely detailed-oriented man with a photographic memory. He will stop at nothing to reach his goals. How else can you account for his rise from a mere royal Prince starting with $30,000 in seed capital to being worth over $24 billion dollars in less than 25 years. He is respected by CEOs and heads of state from around the globe.

Alwaleed got his start in Saudi real estate and earning commissions from foreign contractors during Saudi Arabia's building boom in the 1980s. He then got into the banking business by buying and merging together Saudi banks. Alwaleed tells the story of how he saved Citibank from near collapse in the early 1990s by putting up a good chunk of his net worth (close to $600 million) during the bank's crisis.

He is extremely punctual and has such a demanding travel schedule that his entourage can't keep up. He gets by with very little sleep (4 to 6 hours). Where ever he goes, he must have access to a telephone and a television. His phone bill is close to $100,000 a month. He is in the process of building the largest personal yacht in the world. He has a private 747 jumbo jet. I believe he is likely to order a double-deck Airbus A380 too.

If you want a fascinating insider account of Prince Alwaleed, this is probably as good as it gets.

Dull, Fake and Lousy

I bought this book because I wanted to gain some more insight into one of the world's richest men, his investments, his strategies and his life. As written by Riz Khan I expected to receive a balanced view of his story.

However, I was gravely disappointed. First it is the worst written book I have ever read in my life. Apart from Khan's writing style which resembles that of a 16-year old submitting an essay he wrote the night before the deadline and apart from being dull, weak in vocabulary and downright boring, it is also full of grammatical mistakes.

The story itself is incredibly one-sided with absolutely no opposing perspectives to those of Waleed. It presents an unacceptably incorrect view of liberal Islam and presents what is essentially an egotistical, arrogant man's view of how incredible his achievements are. The idea of a billionaire who claims he is religious and prays to God 5 times a day contrasts starkly with how he put Koranic verses in the lobby of his Georges V hotel in Paris. The very lobby under which rich Parisians sip martinis and discuss Arab terrorists and immigrants in France.

The first chapter - indeed the rest of book seems incidental - is dedicated to providing a response to Rudolph's Guliani's rejection of Walid's $10m donation for 9/11. The rest of it is repetitious, self-congratulatory and eeks of both Walid's personal editing and Riz Khan's incompetence as a writer.

Anyway, point being, dont buy it.. read something useful (and spell-checked) instead.

Propaganda piece

Book came across as an extremely bias piece. When it came to sources it seemed that Khan used the same people repeatedly. It was so bad I was only able to read the first two chapters. I'm sure that Khan put a LOT of hard work into this book but the end product was not very good. However, the idea of adding a video to the book was a huge plus and I hope other biographers follow his lead on this point. That idea alone gave this book two stars!

Path to Eden and my true self

This is my third time reading Jason Pipho's Unfixyou and I am realizing how deep and true Jason's messages are every time I read it.

As he put it, `How deep down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?'

To improve myself, increase my capacity in business and life, or find my true self, etc., I have studied from Mr. Robbins, Landmark, the Secret, Buddhism, ThetaHealing®, etc., etc., and Jason's writing is different from others. Although, initially it appeared to be similar to some others, it's in a different dimension/paradigm.

Many other programs deal with a level of thinking/belief/conviction and they teach different techniques to delete or change the so called `limiting' beliefs at a conscious or subconscious level to make things better. And, indeed, they did work for me to `improve' my thinking, hence results. I'm thankful to all of them. However, after reading this book, I know that they are dealing in the world of thinking - the world after Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge (= thinking).

This book shows the reader a way to go back to the world before the Tree of Knowledge, Eden. He explains how we have been `breaking' the perfection we already are, and how `fixing' ourselves actually break us even more.

Jason introduces simple exercises that individuals can do to be one's true self. He also writes specific instructions on meditation to quiet the mind/thinking.

After practicing those exercises, many things about me are changing and people are noticing the changes. In Jason's words, "All changes take place in the internal world and then the external world will change as if by magic." This book shows a way to meet the true, perfect self that, "was always there" and takes us back to Eden where we belong.

Reyna seems to be an amazing beautiful person inside and out

I have followed Reyna on social media forever. I was so excited when she decided to write a book and couldn't wait to purchase it. A lot of the things she wrote hit home for me. Its crazy how someone you don't know at all could have/went through the same things that you did. Reyna seems to be an amazing beautiful person inside and out. I contacted her on social media and unlike others, she didn't ignore me. I hope that she writes more books and even looking ones. I'm looking forward to the things she has in store.

I love this book, everything about it! All 108 pages. It's amazing, not only is the book but the author. I've been following her for a while now, on every social media and she is an amazing human being, inside and out. If you honestly need a reminder of what it is to love yourself, you definitely need to read this book.

Solid, Clear-Cut Reference Text

I am not a person who is partial to text books, but Bill's book is a cut above most other texts I've used in the past. Plenty of information is provided in successive pieces, with very little to no unnecessary padding. There are examples following each new concept that not only challenge the student to apply what they have learned, but restate the concept in a way that is useful in a practical application rather than redundant. Reworking these examples is particularly advantageous to the student in a distance-learning environment. The book draws a lot on basic electricity concepts, but the appendix in the back (constructed like an additional chapter more than anything) provides explanations of most additional material. Overall an extremely practical reference.

Great for Introduction to Digital Electronics

I purchased this book for an online class at community college. The class is actually "taught" by the writer of this textbook, which i thought was pretty cool. Although i had access to the author of the textbook, i did not need to utilize his knowledge because the text is written so well. I was able to basically teach myself and do very well in the class with this textbook and the included software. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know about digital electronics, whether they want to teach themselves or for a class (that is not to say you should purchase this instead of the text required for a class).

Great way to teach yourself the basics and more!

I am currently enrolled in an online course, who is taught by the author of the book. I have taken this class before and found it to be queit difficult to really get a grasp on some of the text while going through the class. In highschool it was very hands on and the teacher was right there with you every step of the way. I took this at a different college where the professor was very smart and knowledgable yet he did not have a sucessful pass rate because he couldnt communicate well with the students and the books he required were vary hard to understand. Signing up for this course online made me nervous because of my past expierence with this class (it was in an actual classroom, so you can imagine my worries with it being online and not interacting in a classroom setting) - this is the last course i need to complete my AAS. Talking with Professor Kleitz, he made it clear that putting in the time and effort, weekly, that you should be able to teach yourself with this book and by solving the problems throughout the chapters - boy was he right. I've gone through the first chapter and i feel that i've already learned and taught myself more than i could have with any other book i've used. I would recommend this book to anyone interesting in persuing a field in electronics, design, manufacturing, computers, etc. - eppspecially if you are at a loss for classroom time. I work a full time job and i believe i will be able to excell in this class and finish up my degree thanks to the book and the ability to teach myself throughout his writings. Great job at writing the book!

Disappointing

I love the Baker Exegetical Commentary (BECNT) series. After enjoy Bock's work on Luke in the BECNT, I was excited to purchase Matthew. However, this commentary was a disappointment to me. Many sections are extremely brief, taking a paragraph of text and spending little more than a page in commentary. I am a preacher of the scriptures and simply found the commentary unhelpful. Many of Turner's comments were straightforward or obvious observations from the text. If you are looking for pastoral help, I recommend NICNT by France, Expositor's Bible Commentary by Carson, and Pillar NT Commentary by Morris. If you want brief comments, Turner is for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere for depth.

Brevity yet Comprehensive

The size (692 pages; the bibliography and the indexes are not included) tells us about the terseness of the commentary but not the lack of clarity. Every paragraph is straight to the point without diffusion. Every discussion has significance, not only serving the purpose of delivering information. I enjoyed much of reading this form of presentation: terse yet unambiguous.

This is also not a commentary of commentaries, hence the brevity. However, he does well in quoting others, such that the commentary is neither mostly a pile of arguments about others' opinion nor only a gathering of others' view. The way he summarizes other's argument is well balanced. He is really writing a commentary on the Gospel of Matthew. This work is brief yet comprehensive.

The other concern in writing a commentary of the Gospels is that we have to treat each Gospel in its own right, which means that we are not supposed to do a synoptic comparison in order to gain the whole picture. I believe that the author has done it well. But sometimes such comparison is justified, because the differences will show us the uniqueness of each Gospel. In this point, I found out that the author tends to do only the first part, but offers no explanation of the differences so as to highlight its distinctiveness. (see, for instance, p. 108 about the difference of Matthew 3:3, compared with the other Gospels, in quoting the OT; others like pp.124, 129 etc.)

When commenting on a verb, the author emphasizes the implication of the Greek tense, which makes me a little uneasy about it. (Surprisingly, this is rarely found at the second half or even the last two third of the commentary) For instance, in commenting on 3:5-6 (p. 109) he writes, "The imperfect verbs exeporeueto (were going out) and ebaptizonto (were being baptized) indicate that this response was widespread and regular." (I omit the Greek words) I am wondering, does "imperfect" indicate the widespread and regularity of the verbs or is it the context that requires so? In another sense, I will agree with some of the conclusions, but not the reason. I may have such an understanding due to the fact that I am more influenced by the Aspect Theory rather than traditional grammatical analysis. But for sure, the latter approach is still a common practice. This, however, won't affect me in appreciating this commentary due to many other strengths.

Good, but not a top Commentary

The series of Baker's Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament is a very worthwhile series. I was very glad to get this commentary. However, on working with the commentary, while it is good but not as good as I had hoped. It is one of the weakest of the series. I found the exegesis weak, but on the other hand I found the analysis of the text good, but brief in its comments. His work is reader friendly, helpful, and insightful, but limited. There are better, but will provide interesting insights and analysis.
